State of the Writing: June 2018

Hi, everyone,

It’s June, which means that, depending on your point of view, it’s either summer or will be in just a few days. Around my neck of the woods, it seems like God flipped the switch and went straight to hot. One day, it was in the 50s, and then suddenly it was 95.

I’m kidding.

Sort of.

At any rate, plenty is going on here. Where to begin?

Well, first there’s the status of my next novel, Through Chaos. I finished the latest round of edits late last month, and I’ve gotten a first look at the cover. I can’t wait to share it with you, and I will … as soon as the publisher lets me. All systems are go for a November 2018 release.

I’m also putting the finishing touches on The Seas of Aeroel, the third and final short story in the companion Tales of Sarco series. The short stories, as you may recall, interlace with my novelsThe Seas of Aeroel set during the same time frame as the events of Into the Void. If you’re still on the edge of your seat following the ending of Into the Void, you’ll get some (small) hints in The Seas of Aeroel, as well as some small details that will become much more important in Through Chaos.

I’ve currently got The Seas of Aeroel slated for a July 11 launch. As with my previous short stories, it will be free, and available exclusively on my mailing list.

Beyond that? Well, last year, I mentioned here that I was working on an entirely new manuscript. It’s science fiction, but with a different setting than the Sarco novels. At the time, my plan was to push the novel out to beta readers by Fall 2017, but I didn’t, in large part because of logistics surrounding Into the Void. But I’m back into that world, and my hope is to have it drafted and revised this summer. We shall see.

There is, by the way, an Easter egg for this manuscript in Into the Void, so if you play close enough attention you might catch a glimpse as to what I’m writing about. Does that mean that this manuscript is set in the same universe as the Sarco books? Wait and see.

A few other things I’ve been writing about of late:

That’s it for now!
